What is the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?
Interior decorators typically focus on the decorative elements of a home, such as paint color, furniture, and other décor elements. Interior designers do this and more. Designers have formal program training on interior architecture principals, drafting skills, general building code guidelines, and design experience to bring to your project. We have both skill sets at Pamela Hope Designs to assist you with your projects.
How do we get started?
After you return the brief questionnaire from our web site, we like to have a chat to see how we might work together. Next, we will invite you to our studio for a meet and greet to learn more about each other. From there, we review the scope, budget, timing and desired results of your project and draft a letter of agreement to outline these needs.
Once we get started, we will have a consulting meeting where we work with you to ideate preferred design styles, establish requirements for each room, and discuss how you want your space to inspire you and support your lifestyle. We then gather information such as measurements, photographs and preferences to begin the design process. We will present you with ideas, proposed material selections, palette options, and design concepts. After the designs are approved, we work with you on narrowing down décor selections, pricing, and implementation of the design.
What cities do you work in?
Pamela Hope Designs works primarily in Houston, Texas. However, we have completed hundreds of projects throughout the greater Houston area as well as in Dallas, Fort Worth, and the Texas Hill Country. We have also worked with clients coast to coast, from Kennebunkport, Maine, to Ketchikan, Alaska.
How long will our project take?
This will vary per project. A typical kitchen remodel may take approximately three or more months to design and build. A living room update may take a month to design, and two months to receive and install all products and furniture. If you are remodeling your bathroom, the process may take only a month from start to finish if your design and selections are done in advance and all materials are available. New construction and remodels may take several months to several years, depending on complexity.
Delays are costly in construction and are frustrating too. We work hard to keep you and the builder on track and on schedule. Our organized, team approach can save you time, money and frustration.
What is your style?
While I embrace a New Traditionalist aesthetic, combining timeless elements with modern updates, my design manager’s favorite style is transitional while our design assistant loves modern and organic selections. That said, we tailor our projects to the clients’ taste, budget and lifestyle. I feel one of my greatest strengths is really “getting” my clients and their style.
Our goal is to create beautiful, comfortable and functional spaces for everyone we work with. Client preferences, the architecture of the home or building, its natural surroundings, and the budget will dictate the design direction. Our mission is to bring out our clients’ personality and best self into each space.
What will our project cost?
Design is available at a variety of price points. We have found a range of levels that are a good fit for our firm. Discussing costs up front is very important to the integrity of the project and our relationship with our clients. If you have a specific budget in mind, we are happy to discuss how we can work with it.
