Yes, it’s true! Fall is already here. That means the holiday season cooler weather is just around the corner. I love this time of year. At the office, we’re preparing seasonal designs for clients for the holidays as well as a few fall updates around my own home. If you haven’t already started, it’s time to take a look around your home—is it fall-ready? If not, no worries. I’ve curated a list of a few of my favorite tips for making your home a bit cozier for fall:

Cozy Textures

Fur blankets and other soft textures are a simple way to transition a room to fall. Drape a throw across the sofa, chair, or your bed. The room will instantly be transformed into a cozy haven.

Entertaining Prep

Fall is my favorite time of year for entertaining. We’re all excited for the upcoming holiday season, fall dishes are everywhere, and we get to reconnect with old friends and family during Thanksgiving. Now is the time to prepare your entertaining space for cozy fall dinner parties. Centerpieces can be updated with seasonal greenery and branches, add a rug underneath the dining room table for warmth, and gather your favorite pillar candles for warm light.

Saturated Hues

Don’t shy away from dark, rich hues this fall. Swap out your brighter colored textiles for more saturated hues—this strategy never fails! Look for deep jewel tones and even velvets.

Mad for Plaid

If you love traditional fall decor, then plaid is the way to go. Even using it sparingly will usher in the feeling of fall. Try adding in plaid ribbon, throws, table runners, or pillowcases.

Layered Textures

Once you’ve chosen whether to go for jewel tones or plaids, it’s time to bring it all together and layer your cozy textures. You can experiment with extra layering, especially in the bedroom, by layering colors as well. If you love neutrals, play with mixing muted browns and mauves for more dimension.
